If you know me..or follow our blog..you know the fun never stops on our place. Always something going on or needing to be done or surprise.
Spent the weekend before Christmas getting our place ready for the storm they were predicting for christmas day..weather models were sketchy..and I get alittle nervous. Im gunshy at this point from our whopper blizzard on christmas eve 2009. I was not leaving anything to chance, so set about bedding down animals, blanketing horses, setting out hay and making a feed run..which Fletcher helped me with.
He also helped himself to my Monster Energy Coffee..does a border collie really need caffiene?
Christmas Eve evening, I set about feeding, as normal. Noticed one of our cows at the top of the pasture..a strange sight, espc at feed time (roosters have nothing on cattle regarding internal clocks)..Come to find out, she’d just had a calf! Miraculous was a word that crossed my mind? since this cow wasnt slated to calve til March. Apparently, she and the bull were quite sneaky and she got bred in March.
Christmas Day dawned cold..with rain, sleet and then snow..coupled with wind. It created blizzard warnings all around our area. Fletcher and Kate enjoyed the snow..not the cold. Everyone on the ranch hunkered down and waited for it to pass.
The 26th came..the sun shown..and it was cold. All of us..animals included, weathered the storm fine..including the new calf.
Enjoy some christmas snow pictures from around the ranch!

Border collies on caffeine? Scary thought.

The pictures are lovely; keep the stories coming; I enjoy them all.
